This Week In Media 9/3/13
Summer Blockbuster Season is officially over. That didn’t stop Vin Diesel from trying to make a money grab sequel….
In Theaters
Riddick
I can’t lie. I didn’t see Chronicles of Riddick. I don’t know anyone that’s seen it, and if they have, it wasn’t good enough to bring up in conversation. Make your own judgement based on this trailer.
OnDemand/Queue Boosters
Hardball
Keanu Reeves has a gambling problem and ends up coaching 9-10 year old little league in the projects of Chicago in this tear jerker.
What I’ve Watched
The Great Gatsby
Identity Thief
Gatsby is just what the title says; Great. Of course Leo is phenomenal, but even shitty Toby Maguire does a great job as Nick Carraway in this movie that reminds me of how little reading I did as a Junior in high school. I found the movie great even though I remember how it ends thanks to SparkNotes.
The other day I was describing Identity Thief to MLZ as “It’s exactly like the movie Due Date if you replaced Zach Galifanakis with Melissa McCarthy and Robert Downey Jr. with Jason Batemen.” MLZ’s response summed it up “so it’s somewhere between eh and funny.” Nailed it.
