Remember... Being Able to Stand at Sporting Events

Watching that Game 6 at The Oracle got me thinking about you will be put on a list and forced to go door to door to explain to the neighbors before you move in that you are a “stander”. Those fans did not sit down the entire game. They are possibly the best crowd in sports and one of the few that puts up with standing.

It has run rampant through the sports over the last five or so years. I am not talking about sitting I am talking about narcissism. Oh you “paid for the seats” so you “want to sit” congrats I bought them too and I want to stand because I am being a better fan. By forcing me to sit you are saying you are saying that you care about your ability to watch the game and not about what people around you want or what is best for the team.

On the flip side the guy standing is almost forcing every other person in the building to stand. But in the past you used to be fine with having someone stand up in front of you because they are excited and you would happily stand to see or keep your mouth shut and wait for them to sit back down. Point is if people stand or want to stand and you call security or make a big stink about it you might as well just slit your wrists because nobody likes you. Not just in this instance, they don’t like you are all, you are useless to society.

If I owned a stadium I would lock the seats in an upright position during play and force people to stand the whole time. Then unlock them when there is a timeout or intermission of sorts. You are not at the game to sit and watch it, you can do that at home with a television. You are there to experience the game. When people are standing they are more likely to be paying attention and making noise and helping the home team. Only nobody needs to lock any seats to get the Warriors fans to pay attention and care. They are the NBA’s best crowd and that would be an experience to go to one of their home games. Just like they all should be.
