NFL Pick'Em: Week 9, 2013

Image description

Another weak Sunday slate in the NFL. There are a couple of games really worth watching, but there may be quite a few blowouts as well.

* Home teams in bold.

AP3

Atlanta +7.5 over Carolina

Just because I don’t trust this Carolina team. Every time I think I’ve figured them out, they go and do the opposite. My head is telling me they win this game like 30-7, but my gut is telling me they either win by 3 or do something stupid to lose at the end. Take the points.

Dallas -10 over Minnesota

Poor Adrian Peterson. This Vikings team is really really shitty. It only took the team about a year to put 9 guys in the box and dare Viking Quarterback X to beat them. The Cowboys are coming off of a tough loss, and Dez Bryant will be playing with a chip on his shoulder.

New Orleans -6 over Jets

Why? What does Vegas know that we don’t? I understand that it’s in New York, but the Saints are coming off of a Bye week, and the Jets just got pillaged by the BENGALS. So I’m not gonna make this one a lock solely because something seems askew.

Tennessee -3 over St. Louis

Tennessee was able to compete for a while with the Seahawks and 49ers before eventually getting smushed. Look for the Titans to get back in the W column against Kellen Clemens.

Buffalo +3.5 over Kansas City

Upset Alert!

Teams are starting to figure out the Chiefs and Andy Reid hasn’t been able to make adjustments. It’s probably best the Chiefs lose one now instead of late December anyways…

San Diego -1 over Washington

Extra week to prepare against a bad Redskins defense should yield an easy win for the Chargers.

Oakland -3 over Philadelphia

The Raiders are a sneaky good team this year. Their defense is stronger than usual and Pryor running around in the backfield gives them a chance on offense.

Seattle -17 over Tampa Bay

Come on really? This like should have been higher than Jacksonville at Denver a couple weeks ago.

Baltimore -3 over Cleveland

Baltimore coming off of a Bye week against Jason Campbell.

New England -7.5 over Pittsburgh

Any time Tom Brady gets made fun of on South Park he usually bounces back with a big performance.

Indianapolis -3 over Houston

Welcome to Prime Time Case Keenum.

Green Bay -11.5 over Chicago

This Bears defense has not been the same all year, and Aaron Rodgers is starting to heat up.

Carolina -7.5 over Atlanta

The Panthers might actually be good but at the very least they are the good bad team. The team that beats up on all the bad teams but can't get a big win when it counts. Atlanta is a bad team and I expect a final score of about 31-7.

Dallas -10 over Minnesota

Tony Romo's passing stats at home are off the charts. Now he goes up against a beat up Vikes secondary? Another blowout in the making.

New Orleans -6 over Jets

Lock Alert

I will make this a lock. It doesn't make any sense. The Jets strength is when they can blitz and disrupt the quarterbacks rhythm. But that doesn't happen with Brees because he gets the ball out so fast. The only thing going for the Jets is that the Saints aren't the same team on the road as they are at home. But coming off a bye should offset that.

Tennessee -3 over St. Louis

You can't expect Kellen Clemens to lead an already piss poor Rams offense to be competitive against anyone. The Seattle game was a bit of a fluke and now they are playing on a short week. They are going to find themselves with a great draft pick this offseason.

Kansas City -3.5 over Buffalo

The Chiefs grind games out. They win ugly. Having said that they will likely win this game by exactly three points. While the Bills are a solid team at home, the Chiefs are far and away the better team, it's just sort of a toss up as to how well their offense plays. They will win but I'm not about to guarantee that they cover, but they should.

San Diego -1 over Washington

This might end up being the best game of the week. Normally a west coast team flying to the east coast would make me a bit nervous but the Chargers are coming off a bye week and have had extra time to prep for what might be the worst defense in football.

Oakland -3 over Philadelphia

Lock Alert

The Eagles are sneaky awful and the Raiders are sneaky good. Three points isn't nearly enough.

Seattle -17 over Tampa Bay

Lock Alert

The Bucs are really really bad.

Cleveland +3 over Baltimore

These Browns/Ravens games always seem to be close and low scoring. There is a bit of a rivalry here and I have no faith in this Ravens team, so I'll take the hungrier team playing at home getting three points.

Pittsburgh +7.5 over New England

The Patriots can't stop the run right up the middle and Le'Veon Bell is a legit threat out of the backfield. He should be able to gash the Patriots enough to at least cover this spread.

Indianapolis -3 over Houston

I thought we were all in agreement that Houston sucks?

Chicago +11.5 over Green Bay

Another rivalry game here leaving the doors open for a tight ball game. If you bet the Packers you know you will have to overcome a Devin Hester touchdown or two as well as a crazy steady game from Josh McCown. Green Bay certainly shouldn't lose this game, but I am not very high on them. They don't seem to be a good football team to me.
