College Football Weekly: Week 16, 2013
What a great year of college football. The final year of the BCS system once again proves it works. If the playoff system was put in place for this season sure we would be treated to another Alabama/Auburn game but does Alabama really deserve that? Auburn has earned the right to play for the championship and shouldn’t have to beat Alabama a second time. Of course the fan in me would love to see that matchup again but the logical side of me believes that this season should end with a title game of Florida State and Auburn.
I don’t want to pat myself on the back for finishing right around .500 for the season but it’s not too shabby when you factor in my 0-12 start in the first two weeks or the fact that I had a record of 18-46-1 heading into Week 11. So heading into the Army/Navy game with a record of 55-59-2 is damn good. For those of you without a calculator that’s a stretch of 37-13-1 over the past five weeks. So let’s carry that momentum into this Army/Navy game and then into bowl season.

Army + Navy Over 51
Don’t expect many pass attempts in this game. Every year we get treated to these two teams gashing each other on the ground. This year will be no exception with both teams combining to average just 179 passing yards per game. Despite that fact there is going to be a lot of points scored in this one. Navy has the 3rd best rushing attack in the nation and the better record but I am taking the points because Army has the 2nd best rushing attack in the nation and because this is their season. Navy has a bowl game to look forward to but this 3-8 Army squad will be playing their Super Bowl this afternoon. It’s supposed to be snowing in Philly so one might want to shy away from the over but not this guy. We just watched the Eagles and Lions rack up 54 points in about eight inches of snow last week. These offenses were built to succeed weather, if the snow is going to slow anyone it will be the defenses. I expect this rivalry game to be a close high scoring affair. Navy should end up winning outright but not by two touchdowns.
