2013 Brickyard 400 Preview
Legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Don’t expect to see any milk today instead one team will earn the right to kiss the hot rubber covered bricks.
This track is a giant 2.5 mile flat rectangle with four distinct turns. These Gen-6 cars are going to flat out fly around this place. Expect to see a good amount of green flag laps but when the pressure is on we are going to see some real aggressive driving. Everyone wants to win at this place, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are tied for the most wins all time and would love to break away from the other and become the all time leader alone.
Stay Away From:
Kyle Busch 9-1
I just don’t like the value here. I just envision him making another boneheaded move late and taking himself and a few others out.
Best Bets:
Kasey Kahne 10-1
This guy is a wheelman and drives the hell out of these cars on the flat tracks. He should run up front for most of the day and at least have a chance to bring it home.
Kevin Harvick 20-1
Harvick has nine straight top 10’s and 10 out of 11 currently this year. He is just flat out consistent. He has also won here before. 20-1 is crazy to me for a guy that will almost certainly be in the top 10 the entire day and that has a history of closing late.
The Pick:
Tony Stewart 15-1
He is the best in the game at this place. Sure Johnson and Gordon have four wins but Smoke has a career average finish of 8.21 including two wins of his own. After that ending in Loudon for the Stewart he may have momentum back on his side a bit. The Truck Series race at Eldora, Tony owns that track, and now he will be trying to get back inside the top 10 in points or at least get a little more security for the wildcard spot at his home track.
