AFC East Preview 2013

Image description

I may or may not have waited to find out the deal with Tim Tebow before I wrote this division preview…. Now that he’s gone I really don’t have too much to talk about. This should be another run away season for the AFC East.

How They’ll Finish

    1.    New England Patriots -300 to Win the Division

So you take away 2/3 of the teams leading receivers from last season completely. The other target is coming off of back surgery and is being now known as injury prone. Your superstar quarterback is now a year older. And your head coach is also a year older and getting close to senile. And you are still 1/3 favorites to win the division. That is the result of a. Tom Brady being that damn good b. Bill Belichick being that damn good and c. The rest of the AFC East being that damn bad

    2.    Miami Dolphins +325 to Win the Division

They added an offensive weapon in Mike Wallace, but he’s basically a glorified Randy Moss. He can only run the fade route so as long as a team doesn’t fall asleep at the wheel they should be able to shut him down. The loss of newly acquired tight end Dustin Keller really hurts this team. If he can make a recovery for next season then the Dolphins may be able to become a threat then, but not before that time.

    3.    Buffalo Bills+900 to Win the Division

They can thank the Jets for not being the joke of the division (although they are trying hard to hold that title with the quarterback carousel that they have going on here). CJ Spiller will be the lone bright spot for this team that drafted EJ Manuel in the first round. Riddle me this, what do the Bills do if they get a top 5 pick? They have Mario Williams on the outside and they just drafted a QB in the first round. Now I don’t think that Clowney falls to them unless they are number 1, so they have to be trading this pick right? Not a good year for that Bills fans.

    4.    New York Jets +1400 to Win the Division

Poor Rex Ryan. I feel bad for the guy. I used to not like him but now I realize it was just because he is the Jets coach. He’s a great coach in a bad situation. Wherever he ends up next year may be who I bet to in the 2014-15 Super Bowl. As for the 2013 Jets, I can’t find a scenario in which they will be giving any points… Oh wait the Raiders come to town on December 8th.
