Your turn, Baseball

Image description

With basketball and hockey season now officially over, and NFL preseason not coming around until Augusr, the Great American Pastime takes center stage. Let's take a look at some of the MLB storylines heading into the dog days of summer....

The Pirates have the best record in baseball?

It's hard to imagine that they will be able to keep up with this pace, but the Pirates have been on fire out of the gate, especially in the best division in the National League.

Miguel Cabrera is still a monster.

After winning the Triple Crown last season, Cabrera continues his dominance at the plate. Cabrera is leading the majors with a .369 batting average, 82 RBI, and 64 runs scored. He also boasts a MLB leading 118 hits including 25 homers.

Will Chris Davis challenge the AL home run record?

It was hard for me to not call this the non-cheater home run record, mostly because we don't know if Davis is clean or not. He is however on pace for 60 home runs (31 through 83 games)which would put him one short of tying Roger Maris's record of 61 in 1961.

The Red Sox and Yankees haven't sucked like everyone thought they would.

In one of the biggest surprises of thw season, teams like the Sox and Yanks that were supposed to be rebuilding are on top of the American League East more than halfway through the season. Speaking of the Yankees...

Is A-Rod really going to play this season?

Healthy, not healthy. Out for the year, ready for rehab. From the looks of things A-Rod is coming back just in time to ruin the Yankees season.
