Not much new to be excited for besides The Great Gatsby. But there is a few things I am excited to talk about and some good queue boosters.

New This Week

In Theatres

The Great Gatsby

Leo DiCaprio is back in this highly anticipated flick. The only potential downside beside it only being PG-13, is that Tobey Maguire is a main character in this. Leo is arguably the best actor on the planet right now. He could turn a turd into a gem. This feels like it is far from a turd of a story so I am expecting good things.

Peeples

The spelling must be because it is a black people movie right? I am sort of interested in this movie because of Craig Robinson and David Allen Grier. Two of the most talented comedic actors there are. They should provide a few good laughs making it worthwhile to watch on demand or on Netflix for free sometime. If for some reason you are thinking about going to the theatre to catch this, know that while this isn’t officially a Tyler Perry movie he did teach writer/director Tina Gordon Chism everything he knows, which took approx. 5 minutes, now this is her directorial debut.

Albums

98 Degrees - 2.0

Yay?

Fitz & the Tantrums - More Than Just A Dream

Heard these guys on Carolla’s podcast Monday, they sounded a bit different but good. This could be a sleeper album.

Goo Goo Dolls - Magnetic

Hopefully these guys saved some money because the only people buying this album are chicks in their mid 30’s.

Lady Antebellum - Golden

The most popular in this day and age. I’m sure there will be a few radio hits off this album.

Rod Stewart - Time

If there was a story about you that involved you getting your stomach pumped because you drank too much semen wouldn’t you go into hiding like Osama Bin Laden cave style?

Talib Kweli - Prisoner of Conscious

I think there was one brief moment when I said out loud hmm this guy is pretty good, only to never both looking into more music of his. Maybe this is the album I finally pull the trigger on... probably not.

Since I’ve Last Written

Survivor

Few quick Survivor notes. If you quit on this show a million years ago like most people did they you are missing out, especially if you are a reality TV watcher. This is the only reality show I really watch and it just keeps getting better. This might just be the craziest season to date and with a double tribal council episode last week two people got sent home.

First off there are two guys on the complete outside Reynold and Eddie. They need to win immunity every week to have any chance. In the first immunity challenge Eddie quit within minutes to split a couple donuts, leaving Reynold to fight for their lives. He came close but lost and then he got voted out and sent home.

That is when I made a note to talk about this because I was pissed. This blonde chick Andrea was pulling strings and seemed to be attracted to Eddie, so she kept him around and sent Reynold home even though Eddie quit on the challenge. In my eyes you quit like that you go home, you don’t want/deserve to be here anymore. I get there is strategy involved and everything but you can’t quit on your only ally for a donut or two.

Then the second tribal council came and the rest of Andrea’s alliance saw right through her attraction to Eddie and blindsided the bitch. She deserved to go home and it was in tremendous fashion. 8/10

Sherlock Holmes 2

Did you see Sherlock Holmes 1? Then you saw the second one as well. Let me just say this. If you took Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man eliminated all of his charm and humor, gave him a bad accent and had him on a mission that nobody could possibly care about, would you still watch it? I didn’t think so. 1/10

The Avengers

I finally watched this Avengers movie everybody has been jerking off to since it came out. Now while Scarlett Johannson is jackable and Paltrow has some nice looking legs in the movie there is not much more to love besides Iron Man. He is the only engaging character, the only one you want to see the entire time.

Few notes I made while watching it...

Why are famous Witch Hunters Hansel and Gretel in this film?

Ooo a spear that shoots lasers...fuckin nerds.

Ahh right, the ole aircraft carrier plane.

4/10

The Watch

Or Neighborhood Watch whichever you would like to call it. Almost always when I watch a presumably bad movie I take notes because it would be impossible to remember everything from the movies I watch for two weeks in between me doing this. This movie I had 0 notes for. Not because I remember what I liked or didn’t but because going in all I heard was this movie was a zero just absolutely awful. But after watching it for myself I could not have liked it more. It is obviously not a great movie but it has quite a few good laugh out loud moments. When the alien is thought to be dead and they are taking the passed out drunk pictures with him I was nearly in tears. Also if you like Vince Vaughn you should like this flick. He is as good in this as he is in anything else. 8/10

Podcast Talk

As I am writing this I actually have the Carolla show on and Dave Dameshek is making yet another appearance on the pod. I can’t help but ask... why? He tries to be Adam but he obviously is not Adam. He feigns interest in stupid things he thinks Carolla will like him more for yet they almost always end up making him sound like an idiot. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he’s awful. I like Shek and I used to enjoy, even look forward to hearing him on a podcast. He is one of the better ones. One of the guys you can rely on to bring it. But it’s every week with the same dumb shit. Enough Shek.

Quick BS Report tangent. His last few pods... Zach Lowe and Haralabos Voulgaris, Jason Collins, Wesley Morris, Jalen Rose and Dave Jacoby (double ep), Matt Taibbi, and finally Zach Lowe. That brings us all the way back to April 14 for an actual good guest appears, Joe House. Has Bill stopped trying? Why listen to him anymore? Try having on a good guest once in awhile. I can’t be the only one that looks forward to pretty much only Cousin Sal. I know I know, it’s a free podcast I should not be complaining about it. But it just seems like Bill has lost touch. Maybe he is too busy or maybe he cares about other things more now, but I do miss the old, pre Grantland, pre Jalen Rose ass kissing, Bill.
