This Week In Media 3/25/14
Bit of a weak week outside of the theaters, but there might be a few good things to come out of this week in media.
In Theaters
Noah
Nice looking cast for this attempt at a money grab. Unfortunately
the likeliest scenario is that we will be hearing about how much
money this movie lost in the upcoming weeks.
Sabotage
This movie is going to be terrible, but it knows that. This at
least has a chance to be an Expendables type movie that is over the
top but fun. Plus unlike Noah, this is rated R.
Cesar Chavez
I don’t feel like I
need a Cesar Chavez bio, but Michael Pena is a really good actor so
this could be worth checking out.
The Raid 2
I don’t have my hopes up, I fully expect this to be a weird Asian fist fighting movie, but the first one, The Raid Redemption, was a fantastic movie… as long as you find the one with English dubbed in.
Since I’ve Last Written
Survivor
Voting Cliff off at this past weeks tribal is going to haunt that
tribe without a doubt in my mind. Pretty good season thus far, but
it’s still early.
Nebraska
The way I am wired is that once I decide that I am “in” on
something, I try and avoid anything and everything about it.
Meaning, I avoid all trailers for movies once I decide I want to
see it. This was nominated for best picture this year, so naturally
it landed on my Netflix queue. All I heard about it was that it was
boring and felt like homework. But I popped it in last night and
was delighted. Will Forte and Bob Odenkirk were both really good
and Bruce Dern as the crazy old dad was really fun. I was expecting
boring and got something much better and absolutely worth
seeing.
Turbo
I would have been okay with a radioactive snail that becomes fast enough to compete at the Indy 500, but we find out about it because his shell now has an alarm, his eyes are headlights, and he has a radio inside of him now? Come on now, that’s silly.
