STP Gas Booster at Martinsville

Image description

What a long couple of weeks it has been. That last race was like a great Breaking Bad cliffhanger. So much went down that Dale Jr being the points leader has barely been mentioned.

So last time we went racing we saw Joey Logs firmly establish himself as a punk. He grew up as the next great thing. Everybody told him how great he was going to be. Joe Gibbs signed him up when he was 18. What did he ever do for Joe Gibbs? He has just two career wins, only one of those was he the best on that particular day. In other words he has failed so far in his career. That is the reason Joe Gibbs let him go. He has done nothing but disappoint thus far.

Then last race he runs Tony Stewart all the way down to the grass costing Tony more than 20 spots on the race track and a chance to win. Then he wrecks Denny because he couldn't keep control of his car which puts Hamlin in the hospital with a fracture of his lower spine. How did Joey react after the race? By throwing a bottle at Tony and by saying Denny “got what he deserved”. This kid needs to be put in his place. This is the week it happens.

Racing at a half mile track like Martinsville guys tend to get frustrated very easily. Since track position is at a premium and the cars are so bunched up tempers flare early and often. If we see even just a few green flag laps where Tony Stewart and Joey Logs are racing near each other it might be just enough for Tony to wreck him. Not only Tony though. Ryan Newman has had past run ins with Logano and you know he has had to listen to Tony bitching about him the past two weeks. It will be in his head. So if Joey angers Newman in any way he might dump him as well. Being that it is a half mile track wrecking Joey would insure a rough points day without putting his life at risk like he did with Hamlin. It's time we see Logs put in his place.

Best Bets:

Jimmie Johnson +250

Only one guy can pay off this bet so why not take the guy that owns this place, and the guy who is starting on the pole. He has won here a staggering seven times and owns 15 top 5's in 22 races. He is the guy to beat this weekend.

Matt Kenseth +1500

Kenseth has been hit or miss so far this season with three top 10s and two finishes outside the top 30. But he starts 8th this week and has finished 4th and 6th in this race the past two years. He has never won at Martinsville this could be the week he gets his first.

Ryan Newman +3000

Newman won this race last year, starts 10th and is 30-1 thank you very much.
