Quick Pick: Why the Pacers are the pick tonight

Tonight is the pivotal Game 5 in Miami. The Pacers have shown that they belong here, tied with the Heat. Every talking head on the planet is still 100% on board with their Heat in 6 picks just like they were sticking with their Heat in 5 pick after Game 2. All I have heard all series is how good Miami is and should be. In Between 15 minutes of blowing Lebron and the Heat, one guy will pop off to remind everyone, Indiana’s defense might actually be working, just so he can sound smart before he goes back into Heat are 100% winning in 6.

The Pacers have proven they can win in Miami since they really should have won both Games 1 and 2. That to me nullifies any home court advantage Miami has.

You can say that the Heat are the more well rounded team but when two thirds of Miami’s big three is either hurt/getting old or averaging three rebounds a game in 32 minutes this series. Chris Bosh is only averaging THREE rebounds a contest. Which has helped Indiana to a 10 rebound a night advantage on the glass this far. Dig deeper and Indiana has young hungry guys looking to help the team in whatever way possible. Miami has too many guys standing around watching Lebron carry them.

The way I see it there are only two reasons to not respect the Pacers chances in this series.

The Refs

You can definitely argue that the NBA would not want a Spurs/Pacers finals. But why not? If you let the Pacers win you debunk any “fixed” arguments against you. And it’s not like Tim Duncan’s one for the road possibility isn’t out there as a storyline. Maybe it hurts ratings short term but it may go a long ways long term. But you are probably right the current ref’s are incapable of calling a legitimate basketball game.

Lebron

Yep. He is the only reason to be nervous of a Pacers bet. Nobody else on the Heat is going to beat you and he is good enough to do it alone. He has been for a while now. Anyone that wants to compare him to Jordan is an idiot period but he is already amongst the all time greats this sport has seen.

Right now the Pacers are playing the better overall game. The Heat aren’t 100% and Bosh is a complete nutjob. He is a complete diva along the lines of the ever crazy Britney Spears. The Pacers want it more and it may actually help the NBA’s image.

The Pacers are +7.5 and are +310 for the moneyline. I would bet both just to be safe but both of those especially the moneyline have incredible value. Over 3-1 odds for a team that should be up three games to one in the series is about as good as it possibly gets.
