Best MLB Catches of 2013
Between watching so many great catches and hearing so much angst with the baseball Hall of Fame voting, I found myself looking at great baseball catches. Therefore… here are some of the best baseball catches of 2013.
Carlos Gomez on the hill
Why in the world is there a fucking hill in the outfield? Why not
have a moat around the infield at Fenway with mutated sea bass that
have lasers attached to their heads? Either way that stupid fucking
hill makes this catch even more impressive than it would have been
if it were a normal field designed by normal human
beings.
Josh Donaldson dives in between the wall and the tarp
This is a far more legitimate object in the field of play and it’s
also a more impressive catch.
Julio Iglesias
This is an incredible showing of athleticism as well as a showing
of one incredible glove. To be able to cover all this ground and
make this play on the big stage of the playoffs is insane. There is
a lot more of this coming in this guys young career.
Didi Gregorious over the shoulder
Any over the shoulder catch is impressive but this isn’t just
another over the shoulder catch. This is just insane.
Will Venable saves the game
A diving over the head catch in deep center with a man on second
base and the game on the line in the bottom of the 12th inning? Yes
please. For the record the game went 13 innings and the Padres won
thanks to this grab.
Peter Bourjos brings back a home run
This catch wasn’t with the game on the line like the last one. It
was barely after the first pitch had been thrown but look how high
he gets up to grab this ball over the wall. Somehow it wasn’t even
the best catch by an Angel this year though…
JB Shuck goes over the wall
Now that’s how you rob a home run. What a ballsy play, I just got
goosebumps and it wasn’t even the best catch of the
year…
Ben Revere
Speaking of goosebumps, that is one of the best catches of my lifetime without a doubt.
