Beat The Spread: Week
7
Last week was an awesome week in college football. There were a whole lot of upsets, including my boy Bo Wallace and the Rebels upsetting Alabama (I gave you that one straight up) in the game of the year, at least in my opinion. I went 4-4 against the spread, bringing me to 16-22-1. Not good, but considering I had a 1-5 week I will take it. Just like last week, I got 8 games for you this week. As always, the home team is in caps.
Oklahoma (-14.5) over TEXAS
Going into last week I thought the Sooners were the best team in college football. Obviously I was wrong about that, but they are still a very good team with a legit defense. They are going to be coming out hot after last weeks upset, and Texas can't score. They only put up 7 last week against Baylor, and the Sooners are much better defensively. Give the points.
Auburn (-3) over MISSISSIPPI ST
I feel a little weird going against Mississippi State. They have looked really good on offense, especially Prescott. The issue is Auburn is just better. Auburn is easily the best defense Mississippi State has faced to date. The offense for the Tigers is legit as well, and teams have out up points on the Bulldogs. I think Auburn wins by double digits.
Lsu (-2) over FLORIDA
Is there a bigger fraud 3-1 team than Florida? The offense is atrocious, and with Harris out and Driskell back under center it won't get any better. Say what you want about LSU offensively, the defense is still loaded with athletes that can make plays. Coming off an embarrassing loss to Auburn I think the Tigers come out heated and really embarrass the Gators.
Oregon (-3) over UCLA
This game is a must win game for these two teams, because the loser can kiss any shot at the playoff goodbye. Both of these team have legit (I think) quarterbacks, but awful offensive line play. When it comes down to it, I have at least seen flashes from Oregon, especially in the Michigan State game. I don't feel the same way about UCLA, and I think the defense is a little overrated. Ducks should take this one with ease.
North Carolina (+17) over NOTRE DAME
I hate this pick so much, but coming off a tough emotional win over Stanford, and looking ahead to the Seminoles next week. I think there is a chance the Irish come out a little slow and just coast, winning with ease but not ever really putting NC away.
Houston (+8) over MEMPHIS
Memphis is getting a little hype, and rightfully so. They played UCLA tight, and just beat Cincinnati. But Houston has a legit defense, despite it's 2-3 record, ranking 18th in the nation in points against per game. They have held opponents to under 20 points in 3 of their last 4 games, and didn't look bad against BYU. I'm not picking them to win, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a tight one.
OL MISS (+2) over Texas A&M
I told you all last week that I Bo-Lieve in Bo Wallace. That hasn't changed. The Rebels just might have the best defense in all of college football, and have been playing as good as anyone in the country. I get that Texas A&M can score, but besides their week 1 win over SC (Who isn't nearly as good as anyone thought) I haven't been that impressed. Especially the last two weeks versus Arkansas and Miss St. Bo Wallace and the Rebels remain undefeated in another thriller.
