NFL Offseason Storylines

Despite the season being over there is still drama happening across the league.

Joe Flacco's contract

This dude is going to get PAID. The Ravens should happily pay this guy what he wants by the way. He tied one of Montana's records by throwing 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in the playoffs this year. He's the Super Bowl MVP. He has won a playoff game in each of his first five seasons, nine total.

Brees signed a 5 year/$100M deal, Peyton, 5 year/$96M, Brady 4 year/$72M, Eli 6 year/$97.5M. Flacco might see $20M a year and there's not really much of an argument you can make against it.

2013-14 Schedule

The schedule itself will come out in April/May sometime, but the strength of schedule states that the Panthers, Saints, Rams, Lions, Ravens have the toughest schedules while Broncos, Colts, Chargers, Raiders, and Texans have the easiest schedules. Sure a lot changes from year to year, but of course Peyton Manning gets the easiest schedule as of now, it couldn't be any other way.

The Eagles

Chip Kelly comes in seemingly is going to keep Michael Vick. This story is about as interesting as it gets. A rookie coach coming off great success at the collegiate level joining a team of talented underachieving vets. I don't know if Vick is going to end up fitting into Kelly's system, but I think Kelly might be smart enough to work around that, and maybe give the ball to McCoy a little more. That would fix 90% of their problems. The other 10% is consistant defensive play. Chip Kelly could save the Eagles, or he could be finding a new college team to build back up in a couple years. I'm very intrigued to see which it is.

Darrelle Revis

So the Jets are in salary cap jail and want to move their one good player whom is coming off of major surgery. Revis is the closest thing to a shut down corner as you can have in today's game. He's more of the best wide receiver escort in the game. The Jets have a lot of fixing to do, I think Rex Ryan is going to get the axe soon, and it's not his fault. As much as I can't stand his bullshit, I think he's a good coach, but that team has made some atrocious personnel decisions. Rex and the Jets will end up being happier once they part ways. The Jets will rebuild and Rex will move on to proclaim he's going to win the Super Bowl another 4,763 times. I can't wait.

The Draft

All eyes will be on Manti Te'o. His draft stock is a huge deal alone. Before this whole thing came out I thought he would be a real stud. But since then I have no choice but to think he's an idiot. He might have a football mind but there's no way in hell I'd draft this kid in the early rounds.

Perhaps though, even more pressure will be thrust upon the combined shoulders of the 2013 rookie quarterback class. Geno Smith can run the spread in college. We have seen guys make the transition to the NFL and succeed at it, very special guys. Cam Newton and RG3 to name a couple. Those guys are far superior atheletes and football players than Geno Smith. If you want Vince Young this badly he's a free agent just sign him to a cheap deal don't waste a high pick on him.

Barkley is sort of a toss up to me. On one hand he has the mechanics, the arm, and I think the brain to be a good NFL QB. But on the other hand, he was throwing to two of the best wide outs in the nation. Lee would be my top prospect in this years draft.

Mike Glennon threw for 4000+ yards and 31 touchdowns, but he threw 17 picks and didn't exactly play against top notch talent in the ACC. I think Tyler Bray has a chance to make it but he will most likely be drafted far to high to have much value. Ryan Nassib on the other hand might be a pick a little later in the draft and I think he's going to end up being the best QB in the class. Tyler Wilson also could end up being a starter for someone in the league, but with the head injuries you never know.
